shock absorbers

  1. I'm looking to replace the shocks on the van - when I have some spare time in the next few weeks ::). I have got hold of some heavy duty Boge shocks for front and rear. I am also looking to replace the bolts - as virtually every bolt I have taken off the van when doing jobs has been chewed up and knackered by a mexican mechanic who seems to only have one set of worn molegrips to undo everything.

The van is currently fitted with some aftermarket coil over shocks (fitted in Mexico I think )

It's not something I have done before, but looking in the manual it looks fairly straight forward.

Is there anything nasty or difficult that I should be looking out for? Any tips/advice gratefully received.

    Cheers

  2. be careful if i remember correctly some bolts are higher tensile than standard 8.8grade used on most stuff, check the rating on the bolt head before replacing any bolts

  3. should be a mega easy job if every thing comes of as it should do, if the shocks havnt been of for a while they might be a bit seized on the metal inner sleeve and you may have to cut the eye to remove but you want know till you start

  4. Cheers for that. I have some high tensile bolts in stock. I hope its an easy job, but then every time I think a jobs easy, it comes back to bite me
