servo fitting and vacuum questions

  1. Hello all,

I am in the process of fitting a servo to my 79 converted panel van, I will also be fitting twin Webber 34's ict to the 1641 type 1 engine. So I just want to ask a few questions before I start:

What is the front hole for on the servo by the rod?

Is there a way of testing the servo before I fit it, the reason I ask is I bought it second hand and "it worked when it was taken off"

I have to have a vacuum take off from the manifold,
Do I have to have a take off from both manifolds, joined with a tee piece going to the servo,
will this act as a Balance pipe if I do it this way.
What is the best way to get the take off from the manifold and what is the best equipment to use! Is it simply to drill a hole and use a tap and dye to get the thread and then fit a 12mm brass barbed connector.

Hope these questions make sense, the van did have a servo before but was taken off by PO I have checked and it's got the brake pressure regulator and I have new brake pipes ready to go on.

    Thanks in advance
