  6. Wow, that's some advert...

Ok, so mine still has intact mesh, no rot, original interior is still mint, and having arrived in the UK more recently than his, that must mean mine's worth £150k! Whoop! Oh no, but it had a respray in its og colour a few years ago, so maybe just 10 grand after all!

  8. I read up to here .....

My point being that most Camper Vans, or Campmobiles, are a travesty.

No they're not, you are

  12. Q: Hi think you ve made a mistake on the price14-Mar-16
    A:
The price, which is different to the value, of any artefact, object or work of art is that which the seller thinks it might realise and once that has been realised it sets a benchmark. Think of Picasso in his dotage when a few brush strokes of glaze (costing almost nothing) on an unremarkable plate or bowl would suddenly have enormous value. Why? Because. The VW Camper has become more than a vehicle. It represents something that the world's lost, and in yearning to recover that people are willing to pay a price - when in fact the values lost were priceless. If you can't see that, or that this van is light years better than any out there that has been hacked about, and then given a superficial shiny coat of paint to disguise the fact that it is no longer what it once was - then that's your problem and it is you who are mistaken Jeffery655. The beauty of this listing isn't that people seem so staggered by the price - it's that the more I look, and compare, the more convinced I become that it's worth MORE than I'm asking. If at the end of this I end up keeping the van, I'll have something I appreciate more, and it will appreciate more. At Just Kampers they said I should keep it because it's a family heirloom, and also to get the pleasure out of it. Think of that 'a family heirloom'. Not just a van. Not just a kamper ;-)

So............................why sell it then. "Interesting" standpoint and somewhat choosing ones philosophy to justify capital gain. heirloom, how can it be an heirloom, he bought it and will sell it.

My Rusty old non original van has seen the whole of my children's lives and seen good times and bad. Its been a part of the family for many years and has been used and given years of service and if/when it goes it will be a sad day. I don't expect someone to come along and pay me for the emotional attachment. If it gets written off tomorrow then the insurance company wont take that into account. Hatstand!!!

Good luck to him I say!

I do like a bit of philosophy I have to say....countered with a bit of physics...the bit where the sun inevitable burns out and all the toils of man disappear and our existence and artefacts are rendered fruitless.
