self bleed brake systems

  1. anyone know if those systems available in say Halfords, that u use to bleed your brakes using air pressure , i.e. "Easybleed " come with the fluid resovoir cap to fit a 71 bay ,which is smaller than most modern cars ? or is that ,deffo no, or, can get from somewhere else for more cash? ta 4 advice.

  2. No idea but if its your van you are bleeding then the cheap easy bleed with the one way valve works well enough to do it on your own without any need to play about with reservoir caps

    Cheers

  3. I dont like them myself

Ive a bottle with a one way valve and a rubber hose to attach to the nipple
I think i payed about £10 for it 8 years ago and its done lots of cars and still works fine

I like to feel what the braking system is doing through the pedal whilst bleeding the brakes

Easybleed for me, I like to see the bubbles which you can't do pressing the pedal.
And how fast it comes out tells a tale sometimes.
Just lying there holding a spanner, round all 4 in a jiffy.

  7. I used my Easibleed two days ago and it does have a cap that fits

  8. What is wrong with a small rubber pipe and a jam jar?

Nothing, but you can't see what's happening and air can get sucked back in via the bleed nipple. Check brakes with foot, job's a good'un.

  10. these pipes (rubber) with one way valves in them ,anyone tell me where they can be got ? got /have to have a system i can bleed up brakes on my own ,,ta for advice.

  11. I used both easibleed and a pipe with a valve. Being able to watch it and tell when all the old black fluid had flushed was usefull not to waste too much of the new stuff.

  12. You can get them in Hellfrauds, easybleed kit, essentially a pipe with a one way valve and a white container to collect the old stuff in, only about a tenner

  13. Just watched the eezibleed on youtube looks like a simple bit of kit to use and you can do it all on your own, great for those of us with no mates ;) . The demo car was an old VW beetle.

  14. about 20 years ago when I started faffing with these aircooled junkers , I purchased a rubber bleeding pipe thing, all it is a rubber pipe with a slit in the side and the end bunged up. Top up small jam jar or similar with fresh fluid, then carefully but firmly force the break pedal and gentle very gently release back up. In theory the rubber pipe is a tight fit and does not allow the crappy air filled fluid back in to the piston. Well its getting on a bit however its worked fine. Technique more than anything else. I have always had to do all the work myself anyway , yes its a pain doing it all by myself takes twice as long but you get used to it,
