Seatbelt bulkhead mount positions?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by nickyd, Feb 20, 2019.

  1. Hi all,

I have the bus in pieces and am going to install rear belts. However it is a converted panel van so has nothing in there at the moment.

I have searched the forums but can't find any reference to the position of the mounts in the bulkhead. Does anyone have these? Distance up from the floor and in from the sides would be great.

    Cheers

There should be holes in the bulkhead with blanking plugs in them which have load-bearing steel brackets behind them attached to the rear chassis rails under the fuel tank shelf. If there are no holes in the bulkhead then you probably don’t have the brackets which are required to take the load of an impact on the seatbelt stalks. If you don’t have the brackets you could probably fit some to give you the strength required. There should also be holes in the rear wheelarch tubs & in the rear quarters directly below the side windows.

  3. Thanks smeato, I don't have the brackets as it's a converted panel van, so I need to drill the holes and weld the brackets in. I just need to know where to drill the holes!

Ok, there are 2 pairs of holes side by side. The outermost holes are 312mm (to hole centres) in from the wheelarch, they are 97mm up from the edge of the bulkhead panel (not from the floor but from the join in the middle of the bulkhead) . The inner holes are 50mm in from the outer ones. I think the holes are 10mm thread but I can check.
    Hope this makes sense
