Sealing the bay

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Lofty, Dec 23, 2012.

  1. How far do you need to go when trying to seal the engine bay from the hot air below. I'm thinking the small gaps in the top picture are ok, but the gaps in pics 2&3 should be filled. I think pic 3 gaps can be filled with a gaskets from JK but the gap in 3 ? Maybe an old bit of engine foam.

picture 2 you could just fettle with a small ball pein hammer and ensure the gaps are closed

  4. Cheers Mork. Can the insulators be fitted just by unbolting tinware in appropriate areas ? Sorry if it seems a daft question.

  10. Lofty - do you need any engine seal foam - i have a metre or two in the shed somewhere that would probably sort out your gaps? PM me if you want it and I'll dig it out
