Screw sizes please

  1. Hi peeps
Anyone know what size screws are need for....
Sliding door track cover and matching trim on other side. Held on by two Machine screws or bolts and locking washers ?
Rear Brake drum should have two bolts holding it on. Looks like 12mm long but thread ?
Bulkhead in front of tank. Self tappers and washers ? Lenght looks like 12mm but thread ? M8 ?
    Many thanks

  2. For bolt sizes, just measure the outer diameter of the thread in mm eg 8mm=M8. Threads may have differing pitches, tho'

For self tappers, just buy a set for about a tenner. It'll contain all the sizes used in your bus. I believe self tapper sizes are the same as woodscrews ie not metric.

  3. Thanks Snotty. For the Brake drum I can measure the thread as I have 3 of the 4 required, but the trims seems to be held on by 1 screw each, which do not look right. Should they be Self Tappers or something else ?

  4. Re the trims, sure Zed will know. I'm away from my van, so can't check!

  5. The rear brake drum bolts are if I remember correct M6, You don't nee them though as once the wheel is on they do nothing :)

Side covers M6 at front of slider side, others are spire clips and self tappers.

I think the drum ones are a funny size. They were discontinued at some point. If you have alloy wheels you can't fit them. I wouldn't worry one's missing unless it's going to nag at you, the wheel should hold the drum in place quite well.

  8. Cheers zed, much appreciated

As said above you need a selection of self tappers for where they've been used previously, then you can trial and error the size.
When you fit the firewall panel, there are two screws from underneath - do these up tight to pull the panel down onto it's foam seal before you tighten the 3 at each side.

  10. Drum bolts are/were M7.
