When I was young I remember turning over logs and concrete posts etc to look for sand lizards. They scurried off pretty quickly and did have a nip on them if you didn’t handle them right, but you could get them to cling to your pullover and wear them as a badge for a bit before putting them back under the log or wherever you found them. I appreciate we live in a rare sandy heathland area but have spoken to people that have seen them in other similar habitats to ours around the country. I just wondered if they have become extinct and rather than google it thought I’d ask the TLB collective!
I'd not heard of them but found this. Sand Lizard (Lacerta agilis) Sand Lizards are one of the UK's rarest reptiles – due to dramatic habitat loss they now only naturally occur on sandy heathland in Surrey, Dorset and Hampshire and coastal sand dune systems in Merseyside.
I must go back to our old stamping ground and have a scout about under the debris, I think I can still remember their abode choices. Thanks
I’m reliably informed that her Majesty the queen is currently in the process of transitioning into her lizard form. ok when I say reliably informed it was David Icke but I’m sure it’s legit.
Can I just double check. Are you suggesting that in the past other threads on this forum have been taken seriously?
Now I never said that did I? If you’re implying I implied they have my soliceter will be on your case PDQ!
