If you get a chance to abandon the van somewhere safe for a few days and fancy stretching your legs into the mountains, the Norwegian Trekking Association (the DNT) have great trails where you walk from hut to hut (none are more than a days hike from each other) - some are unmanned and you need to bring your own food, some are unmanned but have an 'honesty store cupboard', and some actually have a staff member there. It's a great way to see the bits that the roads don't go to, and the scenery is stunning.
Keep the photos coming! .....it's a lovely country and I'm more than a bit envious you have got your van there! :D

  16. Great pics Sam:thumbsup:

We've just got back from Norway(on a cruise which I'll happily accept is many peoples idea of hell) and absolutely loved the place, it really is a stunning country.

  18. saw Germans, dutch, belgium and french people fishing... wanted to fish.... bought a rod... and caught 2 fish! yet to kill and gut one... take me back to being in the scouts...the rod lives on the awning now... soon I'll be Norwegian I'm sure!

planned a route after @scrooge95 gave me recommendations on the huts.. I'm too tight to pay so I'm carrying a tent and utilizing the right to roam here....

went in the noisy room for a quick check... super dusty.. so vacuumed it out [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  19. in recent events @scrooge95 sent me almost to my death......

upon her absolutely awesome recommendation.. i set iff at 7am yesterday to combat a 55km loop into Hardangervidda National Park... i decided id camp it instead of using the huts to save money...

along with a friend id made....we set off...

16kg strapped to my back.. set off into the unknown.... hiked through 29degrees sun into the absolute middle of nowhere... a stunning day.. make some food... crack on amd shortly after reach a hut.. Hadlaskard... decided to utilise the hut as it was empty.. leave my rucksack and hit the summit of Harteigen some 11km away!

anyway.. the clouds rolled in as i sat on the balcony and a horrendous wind whips around me..

none of this was forecast on the mountain forecast... quickly getting inside (the huts are self service and work on honesty) i havent ever seen a pantry like itn/!

the thunder starts to roll in... the lightning gets absolutely ballastic... theres bolts hitting the peaks all around me...the kitchen rattles with every thunder rumble..the cutlery shakes ...and the whole building wobbles... the wind whistled beyond belief...... i was genuinely absolutely petrified!

another strike hits id say no more than 150m away... at this point i go into the basement larder - armed with a candle and a book and well.... waited for it to blow over.... fast forward a few hours and many lulls and then storms occuring things seem good.... i abandoned all plan on summiting and literally ran 10k to another spot I'd scouted to camp for the night... it was so strange...so quiet... like i had just imagined the whole ordeal... anyway... cheers @scrooge95 [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
