As Gladys is near completion i have been busy trying to set my self up with my own work so I have undertaken some resto work of a mates 72 bay called Ruby The driver side rear roof corner was rotten to nothing so i have chopped it out and hand fabricated a repair section Before After Both rear wheel tubs had been repaired (badly so this was all cut out and repaired as it should be http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae54/outlaw0a37/Shauns%20Bus/shaunsbus1_zpsbcc97b6 b.jpg The front of the cargo floor and seat backs all had to be re worked So whats next the passenger cab door will be replaced and he has had someone weld up holes in the front panel and its a mess - so i will re due this - fit his westy louvered window - and set about a mild lowering task - easy rider front and horseshoes on the back - I will keep you posted and the next stage - I hope its the 1st of many
Once you have built or restored one vehicle you cant stop it becomes part of who you are Im worried what hunk of junk ill buy once the paravan is finished Being paid to work on them for other people seems a fair tradeoff between keeping money balanced and still carrying on doing the things you like Is there going to be any trick touches on this build dale?
I would love to work part time and do this sort of work day in day out makes me smile being able to make someone else s dream come true is very pleasing
I would love to set up and do it properly Id need someone to manage me though and keep on top of the office type stuff otherwise id never make any money
My wife would do that for sure - she would run the diary of work as well kick me up the bum when the jobs arnt done on time
I'd love to do this type of work too. Just need to win the lottery and set up shop! Nice repairs on the roof and rear arches....Ruby's in good hands.
I think it would look better recessed into the front bumper Especially if the drop into the recess was curved
The other half is liking the idea of a Frenched number plate into the front panel!! She really does surprise me sometimes! Lol!
a bit more done today i had a little laugh as i had to re do a very poor repair done by a local resto shop Repaired a couple of little bits in the floor - totally rework the lash up - welded up the holes in the bumper and moved the number plate up
