Rubbish panel van window fit suggestions

So my rear side windows still leak on the van after the respray! I think the glass isn't quite big enough and doesn't create a tight enough seal (from memory when I tried a while ago the seals I had to use had a maximum bend radius that my windows exceeded). So can I get glass cut to fit the apertures in the van? If so where? I want to get this sorted before I do any further work next year as the leaks are easy to trace without an interior.

 

Is the problem with the rearmost windows. I was told there are 2 different sizes of panel van windows!

 

If the windows held in securely enough so it wont push out
then id be tempted to use some sealant under the rubber

 

Yes it's the rear two windows. Part of me thinks the sealent would be a quick fix, but I'd like to get it sorted properly. Do auto glazing companies offer a bespoke window service or something?

 

Mine were a really bad fit when I got my van and subsequently had been leaking for years by the look of it, when cleaned up the good bits that were left suggested that they were always a bad fit since day 1, the seal barely overlapped in the corners. It's an original dormobile conversion too, anyway whilst repairing them I measured the glass then the seal and welded in repairs to ensure a snug fit, this meant an extra 3 / 5 mm in some areas.

I haven't refitted them yet as I'm still on with my resto but hopefully they will fit much better and if they are too tight I can always fettle a bit off easier than adding on! I still plan to use some kind of sealant for belt and braces. However I think the foundation to a good seal will be the hole being the correct size and shape to start with and sealant used as a back up.

Panel van windows are curved, having them made will be ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££'s and you'll need to be able to specify the curve.
It sounds like your metal surrounds may have been "tidied up" rather than repaired. The simple solution, though it's not that simple, would be to make the surrounds correct for the glass.

 

I did a complete resto on my panel van Both rear windows where different sizes and didn't fit very well, bought rubbers that made them fit snug and used sealant! Windows where in for one season then took them out a month ago as I am having sliding windows made and this is what I found!
They looked perfect from the outside and the inside! Real problem is that panel van windows are just prone to collecting water! I think key is probably correct aperture, glass and rubbers then waxoil!

I wouldn't mind except for the fact that it means my van is starting to turn Brown! Yuk!!!!!!!!
