Rubbers. 3 years on, front doors still don't shut flush.

  1. Same problem here - thick black seals that came with the van. Passenger door is worst - it even leaks a bit - but I don't sit there so it can wait!

I've fitted 3 sets recently and all of them shut near perfect before they left my workshop, rubbers from Schofields , doors and catches adjusted properly, no sticking out doors

  4. Reviving an old thread, you'll see I said in 2014 that my "best quality" seals hadn't bedded in. They still haven't, after 6 1/2 years. Before I go and throw £100 away on new seals can somebody who has got good fitting doors check me the thickness of the section shown here.

I bought these in 2012 from Status VW. They were grey when fitted but are much darker now. I've just looked Status VW up. They were getting bad press some time back and may not still be trading as I was redirected to JK, so I may not actually have best quality seals after all. IMG_1357 (600x800).jpg

I think Status VW merged with JK some years back .

Maybe I am wrong. I think my 9 year old JK seals which are quite soft still hold the doors open - the profile of the repro door steps dont match the doors, somebody had to whack dents into the bottom of what were then the last ever original style doors from JK to get it even close to shutting...even the thickness of the door step rubber is under massive pressure.

Hilarious that the rubber on things like CV gators, fuel hose is utter crap, yet door seals apparently have the strength and longevity of Thor.

But mine have split along the edges and gone frilly in a way that would have meant leaky pipes if it had been a fuel pipe.

I bought the top quality German ones from scofields they fit really well but I have to really slam the doors & when I open them it's like there spring loaded.
