Police officer per head of capita dropped right off when the government decided that measuring everything and relating that to ‘performance’ became the only way of running an enterprise be it teaching, armed forces, nhs or policing.

So a police officer might have stood in the same place for 40 minutes back in the day.....and that action ensured they were seen, met people and owned the turf using their own knowledge as to be best placed.

Now it’s about ‘coverage’ where cars, body armour and military like uniforms ensure they are a ‘force’ rather than here for us, means they are seen as a thing and not people.

I’m not saying you don’t need guns or things to prevent injury, but experienced, educated officers that are supported by their bosses and the criminal justice system, that are allowed autonomy and trusted, and in higher numbers prevents crime in the first place.

    Mischief happens in shadows.

I don’t believe guns for all is the answer at all, high numbers of people that feel valued and supported running a service is the way it should go.

Arming police is effectively reintroducing the death penalty. How often do you hear of armed police injuring a suspect? It's always shoot to kill. In many respects, I feel that those who live by the sword should expect to die by the sword.

That was fine up to the point where they locked people away for 25 years simply because they were Irish.

  5. not at all. I fish with a guy who’s worked at the scrubs for 20 years. They have nightmares with Eastern European criminals trying to kill each other over beefs they’ve got with each other from back when they lived in their home countries. Just cos they’ve moved here to carry on their criminal enterprises, doesn’t mean what happened back homes been forgotten.

Saw on the tv that there’s a suspicion the attack on the arsenal players is something to do with rival foreign gangs. It’s no different to when our criminals all hopped it over to the Costa del sol and imported our nonsense to the Spanish.

  6. My point being it’s been going on for years, it’s not specific to a single race or culture.

I even know commanders who would argue that taking out a core gang of an area gave rise to much more criminal activity; ie gangs controlled an area and metered out punishment without the police.

Every area had its own gangs/elders call them what you will but its part of this country’s history too.

Don't believe in the death penalty ...but some times i do when i am cross over an horrendous incident ...Knee jerk reaction i suppose .
But at the end of the day there is to much corruption in the legal system to let them allow the D penalty

  9. Personally I don't care if you are left of Lenin or Right of Kengis Khan and as for staying on topic armed police and the Justice system including the death penalty are all part and partial of the same argument.
Why just select that group well Children are the innocent victims Police are doing their duty and terrorists often kill indiscriminate to justify what ever cause they are acting for, extend it to murderes if proven without reasonable doubt why not.

Still goes on today. There’s a family in Wells, Somerset that are renowned across the city. Nice people, do things to help others... but you wouldn’t want to mess them about, if you know what I mean...

  12. The Wests' encouragement of the Arab Spring uprisings - what a great idea that was.

Despotic rule replaced by tribal despotic rule.
