https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-48187650 There was a thread a while back asking about anything your home town is famous for. Wakefield prison is thought to be to origin of the nursery rhyme "here we go round the mullberry bush" Sadly the Bush has died but the prison has tracked down a bush made from a cutting from the current dead bush years ago and are to replace it . The BBC link is a good 2 minute read about it . For once in Wakefield the right thing is being done . Well done to the prison for caring about the heritage of the bush.
Nice story. Fingers crossed for the cutting . There was a film from the 60s called Here We Go Round The Mullberry Bush, I remember because we showed it at our film club at college. It featured some great music too ...
Just been looking on Facebook around the Wakefield sites and it's amazing how many people now claim to have "THE" original bush or cuttings from it .surprised it lasted so long as it's claimed to have had so many cuttings from it.
What about Jane Macdonald @Sproggy4830 ? Or Phyllis from Coronation St? She lived in Ossett. (I used to work there)
It’s a northern thing baz. I’m trying to decipher what they are on about, I’m not fully there yet but I think they are saying something about Kate bush?
