Rotten tyre valve!

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Flying Pig, Jun 10, 2023.

  1. Well a first for me in years of driving .
Front tyre went flat while driving this am?. Changed wheel no probs and have to say im glad i made a proper job on my jacking points!. Only had original jack with me and happy with its performance lol . Checked tyre and no puncture but valve broke orf . I guess age or cheap and nasty valves fitted as tyres not old .
Gonna check and replace all if i can get an idea of quality ?. Very surprised tbh

I’ve seen a lot of tyres fitted without replacing the valve. I’ve never done it myself though

  4. There was a bad batch of valves. I used to use Mr. Tyre. Both cars done there had it happen. Fortunately low speed.
Never heard of it any other time in 30+years. Metal bolt on valves are available and came with new BBS wheels or for racing or F1 etc.

  5. I use metal valves valves for that reason.
