  1. photo (4).JPG Hi all
I have a roll back roof on my type 2 bay with no headliner at the rear or sides. The front bit over the bay remains. Im no headliner lol but wondered if anyone had vinyled their side and rear parts (the van!) over a board or loose and have any pics as id like to see how a board for example maybe fixes to the lip just above the window/door and to the reminder of the roof-see to left of picture where insulation is:)
    thankyou

  2. without seeing the profile of the edging strip, it's difficult to say exactly what you'd need to do, but in general, if you're using proper headlining vinyl (which is thinner and has a bit less stretch than normal vinyl), you'd glue a thin layer of dense scrim foam over and around the edges. Mark a line on the van in pencil, where you want the vinyl to start from....Cut the vinyl larger than necessary and mark a corresponding line on the back of it. Using decent vinyl glue (from a coach trimmers) lay it on, and align your marks....press firmly and wait for it to bond properly (go over it with a hard 'Seam roller' to get the air out)
Once bonded, stretch the vinyl upwards and over the edging....you can use mini bulldog clips or whatever to hold it in place.
Once it's all stuck down, take a straight edge and cut the excess vinyl off as necessary....rozor blades or scalpels are better than stanley's IMO....Easier said than done but not as difficult as people imagine.

Alternatively, buy some thin 3mm ply....cut to shape and cover, before fitting....the ply can be glued, buttoned, screwed or velcroed in place...if you're lucky, it may stay put of its own accord, like the Devon headliner, which is oversized, so hold itself up....

Also, have a look at some of the clip on edging strips from Reimo, Magnum motorhomes, Woolies etc. you may be able to incorporate this as a means to hold lightweight panels in situ
