I am going to swap my roof canvas for this summer (if we get one) I have one on at the moment made of a thin new fangled material which is in fact rubbish and leaks like a sieve and won't take waterproofer on a Westy rear hinger. Colour wise I want grey or blue. My options are Grey Canvas from Heritage A blue striped model from Proud to Pop, I think this material is new fangled but waterproof, dont know about condensation though Or another type from another company that someone could recommend. Cheers Dave
i need a new rear hinge westy one too, mine's got holes in covered with duck tape....... i'll watch with interest.
Whereabouts are you located? We just picked up a few meters of light grey tent canvas from Attwoolls near Stroud, Gloucs.
shame, i got this made to my spec by someone local that makes boat covers etc much cheaper and better material than what's on line
Exactly - try to go local - any trimmer/sailmaker will be able to do that for you and advise on material options. The newer breathable but waterproof materials are usually the best to go for. You can get assorted samples from places like http://www.profabrics.co.uk/ marine materials can be a lot thicker than others so be careful you dont choose too thick or it wont fold well and crease badly.
Hi all, Our canvas is pretty ropey and I think it needs replacing but I don't have a scooby do where to even start! Is there anyone down south that knows how to change it over (West Sussex area) that may be able to pop over for a cuppa at some point and give us some friendly pointers please? Thanks! xx
Anyone got a proud to pop one, I noticed that the material is sort of plastic coated, I wondered about the condensation situation, although Devon and some other companies used the plastic covered material. I remember going camping in a T25 Devon double top with the brown striped plastic top and that was ok. There again if canvas wasnt the best Westfalia wouldnt have stuck with it. Reimo have also got canvas to this day. Im confused now.
