Rolling road in Hampshire ?

  1. Can anyone recommend somewhere with a rolling road in Hampshire? and a familiarity with air cooled engines.

We have a small issue with stuttering at low revs and the consensus is that it relates to carb jetting/tuning of the new twin Solex carbs. It's really to far to take the van back down to Devon if there is somewhere nearby.

I've tried Airey Tuning in Cheriton but they have quoted £240 for what they say could be 2 - 3 hours work, seems very steep for what is a relatively minor issue, even if it does improve fuel consumption.

Where you based? But Tom airey is the only one in Hampshire I know of for aircooled and £240 is pretty average

  3. I'm in Romsey and work in Alresford once a week so would be very easy to call in there.

It just seems expensive for something that seems relatively minor but it is a little worrying. If that's the going rate I need to get quite a few more miles on the clock to convince myself it's not just me getting used to her and that it will be worth doing.

At that price you could buy an air fuel ratio meter and watch as you drive. E.g. the PLX kit which is £170 or ends up as £200 if you buy direct from the States. There is also the Innovate unit but that needs air calibration unlike the PLX.
Also the PLX has a graph mode so you can see what just happened as you put your foot down.

  5. Thanks Mike but that doesn't mean anything to a mechanical simpleton like myself. All I know is that the van suffers occasional fuel problems that cause stuttering and often stalling, I'm after some one to sort it out for me as it is way beyond my less than basic experience.
