Rocker Geometry question

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Gooders, Aug 6, 2019.

  1. Just watched a vid on utube about rocker geometry, it was the steady American dude who probably has his own take on it.
Question is should the tip of the rocker adjuster be centered on the valve stem tip as he recommends. Or as i have read before slightly off center to help rotate the valve in operation.
I have the elephant feet adjusters so it’s maybe not as crucial.
Does the off center put excess pressure on the valve guides?
Is it better to center them and not worry about the turning of the valves in the head?

  2. I believe in the stock configuration, it's off-centre so the valve can rotate. Let VW argue with him.

You probably won’t be able to centre them even if you want to, not without machining the pedestals and/or rockers, but apparently slightly offset is best – as VW probably intended.
    No.
