Rocker Box Seals

  1. I think this has been discussed before, but when I had the engine out I put some better condition covers on bought from fleabay. I currently have them off again because the new ones were leaking oil, have cleaned everything up and about to reinstall, was going to use a bit of hylomar this time, any views chaps? I had coated the cork gaskets with oil before fitting last time...

  2. If you are using the old clips it worth replacing them as the tension difference between old and new is quite noticeable. Nothing wrong with Bue Hylomar provided the obvious is observed ie used sparingly and no blobs squeezed the wrong side of the gasket. It has to be said though the normal arrangement is a smear of oil or grease which should suffice..no gooey stuff of any sort being needed hence my comment about replacing the clips.

New bales and a smear of grease should sort you.

  4. ^what they said. Hylomar's fine, but tends to glue the gaskets in place. Gease, cork, bails and you're sorted.

  5. Did the hylomar, seems to work, can you still get the spring clips for a type 4 engine?
