    She died yesterday aged 77.

England women's cricket captain for 12 years.
First woman to serve on the MCC
First woman to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame
Vice President of Wolves footy club
    MBE, OBE and life peer

She was one of those old time sports stars who lived and breathed their sport and continued being a part of it after their retirement. A house hold name in her day, and a very good name it was :)

You're right. We're a bit late off the mark with this, bit busy with the Great Britain thread. RHF should be on it. And of course that fantastic name. Use to see her on Question of Sport and she was a pioneer back then. RIP

  4. I once saw her in an interview. She was asked if there was a female version of the cricket box. She said yes and they call it the man hole cover ;)
