Obviously you know why I like it. It looks familiar! I spoke the the lady who bought it recently, she's put 15,000 miles on it in a year! in had only averaged 1,000 a year previously, been to 15 shows (she sells stickers) and had the engine lid pinstriped. He'll be her wedding car on Feb 14th. He's been living the high life, I bet he's glad of his new owner. He's been round a race track too.
It is a possibility if I am honest. Will and I have been talking and as Lou doesn't do much camping these days we spoke about a tintop. probably a Devon day cab type conversion, Watch this space I suppose?
As a side note. The beetle had not been driven in earnest since 2000. Paul had rewired it and gone over most things, he just bolted the wings/decks on without rubbers as they will come off for paint anyway and away we went on a 150 mile journey without an hiccup.. blooming marvellous these old dubs aren't they?
Nice, I had a 1200a 15 years ago.... the odd arrangement of bumper mounts had me stumped until 6 months ago when Michael Leeche explained Homer was a 1200a and showed a before pic!
I bet your lad's relieved you haven't bought him a pile of rust! It's so much easier to be sensible on someone else's behalf isn't it?
That looks like a lovely car poptop. I wonder if I should buy one to teach my students to drive in? Has anybody learned and taken their test in a beetle?
It's mine and Lou's. He has it for two years under our expense and has the option on it after that Barn. If when he leaves uni he wants it, then it's his at the same price we have paid out. If not and he wants a modern car then he can bring it home and Will can have it later. That's the deal we did and it is the deal that seemed fairest.
