  1. No engine or interior but I've since sourced both!
I'm not sure what to do if I'm honest, I don't have loads of money and I know this will take loads, been quoted 10k by @davidoft already and this guy tonight said the same!!!

  2. how much did it cost you? and how much you spent on interior and engine.

Womballs 74 project Daisy resto thread on here is very similar condition to yours, good read for you if you've not already?
It might inspire you or put you right off

  5. 10k is a lot just for welding

  6. Yeah, that's pretty bad if your not experienced in this kind of thing.

I think I would need more than 10k for the time needed to tackle that properly.

  7. Gonna be a hefty panel bill even if you do the work yourself. From my limited experience of bay panelwork it'd be a challenge but not impossible. I'm following the great advice I've received here and although its still pretty scary cutting big chunks of van out its given me enough confidence to have a go. @zed @optimistic and a few others will be your saviours when you get stuck or start to panic.......if you decide to take the plunge obviously

  8. So as you can see my next alternative is to save any cuts, the seat cuts are very good, and put that cash towards another project :(

  9. did you pay much for it?

At least looking at where this one has rotted out will give you an idea where to look on the next one!

  11. It cost us £850, it was a present for my 40th and tbh wanted to get him done for sentimental reasons!!
I want to try to make my cash back so I can put it towards another more solid van!
I have loads of parts I can sell and use that money too

  12. Hi m8 one of my vans was like that it's easily fixable:) it cost me £ 1500 in panels but I did make some of them as well.like one of the side panles that saves me money and my time is free. took about a year with weekend work to get it to primer so cheap rust free van in the end but as @Flakey says it can be done ;)

  13. I suppose it also depends upon how much will, time and ability you have to do it yourself or cash to pay someone else to do the work/or how much selling all the bits might raise and whether you will get anything much better for the money you raise. It can be done, but ................... it won't be easy.

  14. If I had a quarter of the skills you have @womball then I wouldn't hesitate but I can't weld :(

  15. I guess that would be a real problem as some of that van is structural and needs to be spot on ;) but I can be done as anything can be restored but at what cost time and skill .so with out being cheeky sounds like you need to find a better one and make it your own there worth doing right and enjoying your time with on holiday

  16. Wasn't there a recent poster on here asking for a project under £1000? He said he had time and skill and condition was largely unimportant as he wanted to do the work. Be worth going through the posts to find him, could be two happy people.

  17. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

If you were considering spending money on having it resto'd you've already proved that would be foolish.
    £10K welding
    £3-4k paint and filler work
    £1k parts & week+ labour to reassemble
£?K mechanicals inc engine and gearbox
    £? wiring
    £?K interior
You're well over £20K. That buys you a very nice bus you can go camping in tomorrow even if you gave what you have to the scrappy to crush.

  18. We completely agree @zed which is why the decision has been made :(
