Advice required please. A couple of years ago I bought an all singing, all dancing radio/CD/DVD it's got a remote control & the screen winds itself out of the dashboard & everything appears to be brill. But it's not, this machine doesn't actually switch off, it goes into 'standby' No problem, thought I, fitted a leisure battery & went off on holiday, an hours worth of viewing fun every night, but before the week was out, the leisure battery was drained & I'd got no DVD/CD/Radio or more importantly, lights. I've done this a couple of times and I've even wired up a switch to isolate it completely. Anyhoo, I've finally had enough. I've seen cheapish radios / head units that don't have a CD drive, just a selection of inputs. I was thinking that I could watch the film on my iPad & have the sound coming from my speakers all around the van. Do I need to plug it via a USB or will that cause it to charge as well? Would a 3.5 mm jack be better? Can you get a cheapy with a remote control? Am I going about it all wrong? Suggestions please. Thanks,
I know you can use your iPhone/iPad as a remote for your iTunes library at home but not sure if you can use your iPhone to just control your iPad? There are 3rd party bluetooth remotes available though. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005F5CK26/?tag=hydra0b-21&hvadid=10340493069&ref=asc_df_B005F5CK26
I've got an alpine head unit with Bluetooth and a cigarette light charger. If you get one of these buy a decent one as the cheap ones can blow the battery as for the head unit I think it was about £150 but it also doubles up as a hands free kit so you can answer the phone and make calls direct from the head unit
