Replacing a quarterlight catch...

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Jasonm, Jun 6, 2013.

  1. It looks like I 'just' need to remove the glass to access 2 screws that holds the catch on? What are the steps to remove the glass please? Theres a separate metal strip thingy on the lower outside of the Qlight do I prise this out?
    Thanks in advance guys....

  2. the glass slides out of the frame with a great deal of oomph, BUT trying to get it back in afterwards needs even more! from memory i don't think it matters about the metal strip and you may risk damaging the rubber or glass by prising it out first.

  3. Cheers 'trude!
Maybe liberal soaking in WD might help?

  4. slide from the top first. it does come out quite easily once you get a good grip but i always had problems getting them to fit all the way back in. perhaps i should've changed the rubbers at the same time

  5. Are you just trying to replace the bobbly thing? If you twizzle it round, you may find a small roll-pin. Knock this out and it comes off.

The catch bracket, as I recall, is riveted to the frame.

  6. Cheers Snotty, but the whole catch has sheared off....

  7. You mean the moving bit with the black bobble on, or everything?
