Replacement Fuel Injection Harness

  1. Having got really annoyed with the two FI harnesses I've got having got really stiff and brittle, making it hard to fit, and all the contacts being dirty and corroded I decided I wanted a complete new harness.

They aren't made by VW anymore, and the only place I could find making them is a company in the US for around $500.

So I decided to make my own!

The only items reused from the old harness are the main 35 pin ECU plug, and the double relay connector, however both of these have all new pins in them so there are no dirty old pins left! I did find a new double relay connector too, however only in black and so I used my original white one.

Although it took quite a long time to make I am very pleased with the result.

One of the reasons I'm posting this here is because I'm wondering whether there might be a market for these if I made a few more. I haven't fully costed it up yet (for parts or time!), but I'm thinking they would be around £180 including UK postage.

Anyone interested? I would need the original harnesses from anyone buying one as I would need to reuse the ECU connector.

    Thanks.

  3. Good call.....worth flying a kite on ebay...see how much interest there is:thumbsup:

all the Molex connectors/boots etc will work out quite a bit cheaper if you buy them in bulk...Aslo, if there's interest, set it up as company, so you can apply for trade discount wit suppliers....worth doing even if you're only doing a couple to recoup your time and outlay

  4. I have enough bits to make another couple up, some perhaps I'll do that and then see if any interest when I actually have one to sell. And eBay is a good idea too - I'll call it a "Westfalia FI Harness" to double the price :)
