repair panel paint

  1. I'm replacing some gutter sections around the roof of my '79 Devon.

I have bought some repair sections from Schofields and I must say they are spot on.

My question is... when you get panels like this would you take them back to shiny metal all over or just the areas where you are going to weld?

Before welding in would you paint any zinc primer on the back of the panel or leave them bare?...

    Thanks for any help.

  2. i just clean up the areas that will be welded, i've used acid etch primer and por15 for painting the back of my panels, and weld through primer for the welding areas

    Moons and smoggyrich like this.
  3. Wish I could weld, ours needs this work doing, did the roof come off easily?

  4. There is nothing difficult about removing the roof but they are heavy so help would be required to lift it off.

I've needed to sort mine out for years but just kept putting it off.

  5. I ll wait a bit longer!

  6. Don't leave it too long mate, it might end up like mine....
