Removing Excess Glue

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Owen Snell, May 27, 2013.

  1. Tips please, about to set off with removing excess impact adhesive from around the door seals and don't want to damage the paint while doing it.

  2. Try rubbing it with a petrol soaked rag
Thats presuming your bus is painted in 2k paint and not celly

  3. My wifes nail varnish remover (acetone basically)

  4. Evo-stik remover, if it's reasonably soft. If it's 70s hardened-on stuff, I've found only a wire wheel will get it off :(

    Acetone works.

  8. All the above and a liberal dose of elbow grease.

  9. Was just trying to minimise the elbow grease!

  10. , Yes, 2K, will have a go with petrol since I have that already.

  11. Panel wipe or autosmart shift..

  12. as above to soften it then used make shift PLASTIC spatuler as a scraper. oh and bit of advice buy the more expensive seals as they better quality. the ones I changed came as part of a complete door seal kit and only lasted few years before they started cracking....so bought the more expensive seal this time .

  13. As above panel wipe although the trimmer also recommended "white spirits".
