Refitting trailing arms - tips?!

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by mattw, Jun 27, 2018.

  1. I’ve just got my weed eater beam bolted on and I’m starting the process of refitting everything.

I’ve greased up the bearing on the beam and the spring ready to slide the trailing arm on and it won’t slide on. Any tips for getting it to fit?

I’ve heard welding the springs together at the end can help?

  2. Might have to whack it with a hammer!

Is it possible I’ve put too much grease on stopping it sliding in?

Use a cable tie to hold the leaves together, then, with a flap disc, carefully put a slight angle on the edge of the leaves to help guide them in.

  5. Worked a treat in the end but had to encourage them in complete with a hammer!
