just remembered the new series of Red Dwarf is on tomorrow at 9 on Dave hope it doesnt loose some of the 'edge' of the original series now the guys are older ......I wasnt too keen on that last '1 off' they made .........I'll still be watching it though ;D
earlier today at the press release, 'cat' is filming abroad so can't make tonights premiere in london
I'm sort of looking forward to it and sort of not :- The last one wasn't brilliant and as soon as they Americanised the series it lost it's appeal for me. I think from Series 7 on I just didn't care so much and really missed the canned laughter
It was good but it was to slick dont think the scripts arnt as good lost abit if the coolness of being a low budget program still good though
What I saw of it was ok - unfortunately, after the first half, the freeview signal decided to break up and all I got was frozen pixels....... :
Its definately lost its edge. I think i only laughed at a couple of bits. Watched some of series VI afterwards and thatwas much much funnier.
Virgin media on demand have the 1st 8 series on now, over the last few weeks i re watched them all, i have them on video so it had been a while since i caught up, i was suprised how much i remembered, series 1&2 were a bit slow going for me, it came into it's own from series 3, the peak for me was deffo series 5/6, series 7 where rimmer was only in a few was the slow slide to the torture of series 8, that was the series where the nanobots rebuilt the ship and crew, the show deffo works better with the 4 regulars and a monster theme, i think i only watched series 8 on broadcast days and never again since as i could hardly recall any of it, the special "return to earth" (9) was low budget tosh but it did it's job of bringing us series 10, this series looks like it is trying to recapture 5/6 - fingers crossed.
like "Faulty towers " they quit (imo) rather than kick the legs away from it , same as Shameless is going/went ,it gets like moving wallpaper ,to keep going 4 a VERY LONG time any show has to have something very special and so few have ,one i think did ok over a long period was an American show called "MASH"
