Rear Tinware for 79 Bay Type 1

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by pistoue, Aug 30, 2011.

  1. Hi I'm after the rear tinware for a 1600 '79 Bay. I've read on VW Heritage that I will need to get original tinware to replace mine. Are there any repros about and if not where's the best place to find good quality replacements?
    Thanks

ebay is your best bet, they do come up now and again or pop a wanted ad up in here & see if anyone responds

  4. Cheers guys input is much appreciated. It's a great forum
Is there a reason there are no repros available or is it just the demand isn't there?

  5. you can get a fibreglass setup but cant think where from at the moment. it is because it is getting harder to find.

When you say rear tinware, from what point of view are you looking?

I'm in the habit of calling the one photo'd above the front tinware.

  11. Yeah, I find that confusing !!

The one in the picture is the piece of tin right in front of you as you open the engine lid. But I suppose like other cars the bulk head is classed as the front, so this is called the rear.

  12. Oh. I'm on about the piece nearest the back bumper. Just assumed that that was the rear.
