Rear Shock absorbers

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by yorkieman, Jan 27, 2013.

  1. I have bought a RED9Design frontwishbone assembly and am looking at lowering the front between 2 and 4 inches, which is easily done. However, the rear will also need adjustable spring plates so I can lower that too. It is however the shocks which are confusing me, do I use stock ones? or do I need shorter ones? What length are stock ones? What length shorter ones could I use? Also I would like some gas adjustable ones on the back too, can anybody recommend a suitable shock and size? Can I get coilovers that fit (other than the RED9Design ones?

I'm kinda all confused about how to go about it.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  2. I got the Red9 rear spring plates. Although not adjustable and you have to choose what drop you want when you buy, they come with Spax gas shocks, like the EZrider front coil overs. These have been totally reliable for 7 years, though it took a bit of experimentation to set them up right. You can probably get the info you need from whoever is to supply the spring plates.

I put adjustable spring plates on me Doka just so I can get me back wheel off as its down 3.5, me campers down 2.5 and its OK with the original plates plus I have been running the standard shock for about 5 yrs on it without a problem. if they do go I will put shorter ones on though.
