Rear quarter-light configuration

  1. I've tried searching but couldn't find an answer.

I've got a (left-hand drive) converted passenger bus and it has a single opening quarter light down one side, and two down the other. As shown in these pics (not of my bus) I've pinched off The Samba this morning.

Is that just how it was, or were there different configurations that could be ordered? Or is it a case of replacement glass being used later in life?

    Just curious...

  2. Think I've answered my own question by thinking about it logically...It's so you don't open a quarter light into the path of the sliding door, isn't it?

  3. I've got a LHD converted micro bus that has solid windows in the back and half sliders in the middle.

Got pics going back to the early 80s of my kombi and they have always been fitted...

Not sure if that's standard or if it was a fitting option... Someone is bound to know[IMG]

So what's the best oil to use?

  4. I forget the “proper” configuration of rear quarterlights, but I recall they were arranged so you couldn’t clout them when you opened the slider.
