Rear lights removal

  1. Forgive me if this is somewhere else but I've tried searching here and on le'google but to no avail. I wantto remove the rear light units on my camper so I can cut the corner off but can't see a simple way. The rear lights seem to be bolted on with the bolts too long for a socket to fit on and a pair of pliers being awkward to get at the nut, am I missing something?

    Cheers :)

  2. Not missing anything. Bit awkward, but undo the nuts & they're off. I used a long box spanner.

  3. You really need deep sockets and give them a spray in wd40 because if the captive bolt spins inside the plastic you will have to butcher them!

  4. There are 4 nuts (from inside the engine bay), mine were ok by using a small socket, the threads don't go all the way up the screw so only a couple of turns. The two outer ones are reached by feel (or by the use of a mirror).

  5. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Try putting your socket on, then plug in an extension as far as it will (it'll hit the screw).

  6. Cheers everyone, spent ages trying to find a solution when I should have asked you wonderful lot first, thanks again :)

  7. I had to butcher mine as one of the nuts just kept spinning. Hacked it from the "lense" side outside the van and drilled it out!
