Rear Chassis Cross Member - Advice Please.

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Tinroofrusty, Mar 1, 2013.

  1. Hi all,

i'm looking at replacing the rear chassis cross member. Do i have to provide any addition support to the surrounding structure whilst cutting the old cross member out? Just afraid that the bus might fold in half. If any of you peeps out there has done this repair and has any advice on methods, short cuts, do's and dont's or pitfalls then your advice would be welcome.

we did mine at the same time as the outriggers and jacking points - ground them out one piece at a time no support and welded new ones in , the rear cross member was a bit wide and we had to cut it down and adjust it to suit as it was a new one and every new cross member seemed wrong for my 72.

sorry about the pic best i could find short notice :)
