Rear brake cylinders

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by SkutterBob, Oct 23, 2019.

  1. Hi all.

Had my rear brakes apart today for a clean up as the bus was pulling slightly to the left (not much) under braking. As I had to replace one of the cylinders last time around, as it was leaking, I thought I would check them again and found some moisture under the dust caps. I have done a quick Google and another site said this was normal.

Is this normal? I have good brakes and am not loosing brake fluid as far as I know.

    Cheers

  3. If you replaced a cylinder and bled it then there would be some residue of brake fluid in the bleed nipple after you'd nipped it up. Is this what you're seeing?

  4. Take off the dust caps, wipe off any brake fluid residue, drive. If nothing more shows you're OK. Sounds pretty normal to me.

Its probably residue from bleeding if you worked on the brakes recently.
