I'm getting ready for winter like a squirrel. I've stockpiled my VW treats for the next few months now that the bus is away and it gets quiet as we all put our old VW's away.

I call this my restoration corner. I'll be found in the spare room.

So what are you all going to be doing now your bus is away??

  2. It isent.
    Carry on camping
    Wilmas birthday this weekend :)

  3. I refuse to put the bus away. Christmas camping anyone?

  4. I have a big list of stuff to do to the van when I get it back from the garage. Winter is the time for being outside in the freezing cold doing all those jobs that you couldn't do in summer because you were using the van. Hypothermia here I come.

Mind you, I am somewhat jealous of that Jeans Beetle you've got there.

  5. Not putting mine away either, I'm selling my daily driver. Daugher is 17 in Jan and will need the space in the garage, I'll use the wifes car, and when we both need a vehicle at the same time I'll take the van.

  6. nowhere to put kitty so shes staying out - i'll give her a 20 mile run out every week, best thing to help force out the moisture rather than bag her up on the drive.

  7. Hattie goes into storage on 31st October, after one last blast at Wilma's 40th this weekend. She'll be way too cold to drive (no heating and gaps round the doors), or camp in, so we may as well SORN her and put her into covered storage with a load of caravans, like we did last year. I'll be mostly hibernating. I'm not very good at winter...

not decided if i'm sorning yet..... doubtful as i'm loving it too much, will store it inside at work but keep it useable this time.

  9. I use mine to go to guitar lessons every thursday. :) Now being held at Scream S Croydon. :)

  10. Put it to bed and it'll rot... Out on the motorway every weekend, that's what's needed...

We'll be keeping going through the winter - camping is less likely. Crisp winter walks and then a cup of hot chocolate with the propex fired up - can't beat that for me :)

  12. This will be our first winter with a bus and we are going to make the most of the quiet Norfolk roads as long as it's not icy! I didnt buy Bunbury to put him in storage - far better to give him a blast every few days - at least thats what we are currently thinking..

I always use them through the year. You don't get that springtime mot fail list then and it's stops them getting to damp inside if you blow the cobwebs.

  14. I was planning on putting my new bus into storage over winter but not sure now after reading this!

  15. Wilma's not going to sleep, she's going to be used as much as possible as an antidote to the daily grind :)

  16. Hopefully we'll be in our new house with double garage soon and then Pickles the Bus will be going inside for the winter. I want to get some jobs done on him and I will shove a dehumifier inside on the odd occasion just to keep the inside dry ;D

You lot sound like your going to be busy in your buses. I have a few projects I want to develop over winter as well as build up my VW collection. Just need to find the time.

  18. I shall hopefully be kitting out the interior of the T25 (including lots of insulation) and driving around warmly in my T4 ;)

To keep the worst damp away, even a carport will do the job. That's all I've ever had for any of mine. Sometimes they get left for a few months over winter. Keeps the frost/ice off the windows and never steamy inside.

Mind you it has walls each side with just a foot or so gap at the top and a big gate at the end so more like a windy garage.
