lowered on red9 coils up front and creative springplates at the back, wearing lots of battle scars and mismatched paint repairs from over the years but i wouldn't change that for ought, running a 1600tp which is slow as but it's how you get there not how fast huh?! basic as you like rock n roll bed inside, all removable cos it still earns its keep as a van. Its my daily, j tubes and all which in this weather is balls!
    inabit peeps!

Hi Chris, with the coilovers i went for the 4 to 5.5 drop ones, they're currently wound down to around 5 inches, they have 16 settings on the springs for softness, started them off on the hardest and have back em off to 12 now, the springs have settled a bit more since and it'll scrape every now and again.
running 165 50s on 4.5 berm copies, if anything i would change the tyres to 175 55s for a leetle bit more sidewall, otherwise ride quality is good...
    cheers dude :)

  13. Like that! :)

  14. Lift the front a little or sink its arse

I love that van dude it just works on many levels

  15. like that! love all the little details that make it look real rat, the 3d letter number plate and yellow lenses in particular! Im thinking of coilovers on the front, but what advantages are there to coilies, rather than the lowerered front beam, and also what else do you need to buy as well as the coilovers? or do they simply replace the stock shocks?

ps. sorry to hijack your thread, lush van, such a nice contrast between the rat and then clean wheels :)

    thanks :)

Hi Brucieboy, well,i decided on the coilover route cos the beam on the bus had already been cut and turned and lowered a bit but not enough. I thought of going for dropped spindles but that would have made it to low with no adjustment left. So, my options were either buy an uncut beam and fit adjusters and then spindles or go for the coilover setup, price was areal factor too!
With the coilover kit from Red9 as well as the coilover shocks you get 2 solid steel bars that replace the torsion leaves in the beam and give the trailing arms something to attach to. The coilover can then do its job and is adjustable for height and ride quality.
With a lowered beam paired up with dropped spindles you have more adjustment available to you and can go alot lower, I'm limited to 5.5 on the coilovers but i'm happy with the way the van sits. reckon the ride quality would be better with the lowered beam combo too.

I think its the size of the rear tyres dude! currently running 195/65s which may be a little bit too tall. what you running on yours?
