Raspberry pi

  1. Anybody got one. My son has just got one and using it on the tv. It's a great little thing. But I want to work out how to make a iPad or android screen to act as the monitor.
Any users can explain it in simple terms, cos I'm simple. But want to get it working before my son works it out. Which won't take long cos he is 14 and likes to play with computers.

No idea.. If you want an iPad to show on tv you need an Apple TV not sure about android.

  3. Just Google it and i came up with this. . . . . .http://news.yahoo.com/ways-android-gadget-desktop-laptop-pc-131600998.html

Have a look at the android store for Raspberry pi remote control by José Ramon Perez.

  6. Vnc should work in theory.

  7. If you what an iPad to work on your tv all you need is a hdmi adapter. I've been watching I-player this way for months.

  8. My iPad and mac goes on tv via apple tv no problems at all.

I want to work out how to use the Raspberry pi on an iPad / android device and use the onboard keypad for the keyboard and device for the monitor too.

Thanks scote the theory is there with vnc but we need to keep playing with it.

  9. Install XBMC on the Pi then you can Air Play same as Apple TV.

  10. Mirroring is not supported however....

  11. Install VNC server on the pi , make sure it starts on boot, install a VNC viewer on your android/ipad - I use "Android VNC" seem to work quite well
You can still use a USB keyboard/mouse attached to the pi if you want, or even bluetooth for that matter.
This guide looks good, just skip all the ssh config if you dont need to and can configure vnc using your tv screen first.
