Raising on adjusters

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by 1050Ron, Jul 15, 2018.

  1. There is always posts about welding adjusters and lowering but I want to raise my van on the adjusters an inch or so at the front can anybody tell me how to do this I was told before when I got the adjusters fitted but totally forgot any help gratefully recieved

  2. Is it not just a case of loosening the big nut on the adjusters and jacking it up and tightening them again.....or would that lower it..

Jack the front up, put it on axle stands. Mark the adjusters with a sharpie. Slacken the adjuster so that the trailing arms drop a bit. Do them both the same amount. Tighten the adjusters, and put the van back down again to see if you have gone far enough.

Edit, depending on how long your shocks are, you may need to disconnect the shocks as well.

But depending on how the adjusters have been welded you may only be able to go lower.

  7. Thank you for the replys and info much appreciated I will have a look tommorow if I get chance.

  8. If it's as stiff as mine was trying the same job you'll need to take the locking grub screw out, replace it with a bolt and fit a long extension bar over it to pull the adjuster round.. make sure to undo both adjusters too.

I used some leverage of the Anti Roll Bar and a few other places and two jacks and axle stands to the same effect. It needed a fair bit of coaxing!
