Push rod tube seals how easy

  1. Hi my engines out and I need to get it back together … got a holiday to go to on June … had planned to do a number of small jobs including push rod tube seals … how easy to do is this and any tips? I have the seals … read else where that Joker uses permatex (should I or shouldn't I bother with that) will I need to replace or check the tubes in any way.

    Type 4 1700 CB

Where's best for a guide on how to do this?

    Thanks

  2. Pop the push rod tubes off, give them the heads and case a clean where they seal, put new seals in, give them a light smear around the new seals with clean engine oil. Reinstall. Job done.

I use permatex when I rebuild an engine as a belt and braces.

  3. Forgot to mention that you need to take off the rockers and slide out the pushrods and not get them mixed up and make sure the wire clip goes back in place to hold the pushrod tubes in.
All that in one sentence, its an easy job!
With the engine out i would say about 1.5 hours at a leisurely pace.

we covered the new seals in engine oil to push them in easier, make sure it's clean and burr free around the heads and case

  5. Thanks, I will have a look at doing one side this afternoon and see how I get on, the engine is on a stand so that should make it easier, I hope.

    Cheers all tips appreciated.
