Hello The time has come (i think) to invest in a propex heater of some sort. But I want it to be supplied by my old LPG tank (Westy type) which sits under/on the side of the van. Before I invest I was wondering if the tank is up to the job of running a propex heater. It has been fine for using it for the twin burner cooker since 2005. Is there a test I can do or does anyone done this before or is there any reason that it would be any different? Cheers folks P.
If you look at the specs of a cooker , each ring is around 2kW. Or about the same order of heat output as a Propex, so a Propex will consume gas at about the same rate as a cooker would if you left it on.
Definitely worth doing every time I go to get a gas bottle exchanged it seems to go up and up I fitted a webasto diesel heater in mine running off a 10 litre slave tank just sips the fuel if that’s was feeling brave I did look at getting an original petrol heater
On my list to put a bayonet connection on and go against my principals ( strictly a charcoal man) and buy a gas outdoor cooker ( can’t bring myself to call it a barbecue)
