Propex under front seat and to demister totem?

  1. I've seen some howto's for the propex under the front drivers seat, presumably on its edge behind the brake fluid reservoir. Presumably this vents heat into the back area either via the walkthrough or the bulkhead.

I'm trying to work out in my head if its possible to join up from there to the bottom of the totem so that we can get heat on the windscreen too?

Does no-one put them under the passenger seat or is that too useful a storage location?

Has anyone done this, the best of both worlds, a discrete location and heat on the screen?

And I know that if I fixed a OEM exhaust and heat exchangers to the engine I'd have adequate heating. But if we're going to have to buy a propex to keep Her warm, might as well try and see whilst driving too is my thoughts...

  2. You would be better off mounting your propex under the van and joining the propex to the 70mm airduct that connects to the totem.

  3. Sounds like a sensible plan! We’re still stock height so clearance shouldn’t be an issue. Just weatherproofing.

  4. Propex do a model for external fitting with waterproof connections etc.

  5. If you want to retain stock heating it’s possible to plumb an underslung heater into the main heater tube behind the walkthrough connection using a y piece. You then have the options you would normally have utilising the dash heating controls. Dependant on year you can have the heat to screen, walkthrough air screen or a mixture of all those. What you would need to consider is how you get your recirc air back to the heater.
