Propex tips.

  1. The instructions tell you to drill 40mm holes for the combustion inlet and exhaust. Have you peeps done that? If so, how?
I have a step drill but it only goes up to 32mm. I don't fancy drilling a fairy ring of little holes.

  2. Get a 40mm hole saw. I have one you can borrow if you're close? I also have the 60mm one for the pipe work.

if not use a jigsaw or file out after the 32mm try it out i found 40mm was quite large

  4. Ha ha ha, propex instructions say the open vent should be 6m from the heater, where's that gonna go then? In the car behind?
Having huge fun sussing it all out. Reckon I might even get it done in time for the warm weather. ;)

  6. Simple really, if you use the bus all year like me, you may struggle with the propex using butane if its mega cold outside. Unless you park it in a heated garage every night wrapped in cotton wool ;)

Chris speaks the truth. I went from those awful portable gas hobs with small gas cartridges to a proper grill/hob unit and used butane. At winter camp 2011 it took forever to cook because it was too cold. I was forced to use butane because of the smaller sized gas bottle. So for the propex I got propane because it works so much better when cold. Why have a heating system that struggles when it's cold??

And before you ask, I need 2 bottles because the cooker unit is removable for alfresco cooking and for the awning.

  8. I have them up to that size if you need it. BIG hole though.

  9. Thanks TBR - you're a top banana.
Now got a 40mm holesaw on order. Hadn't realised how cheap they were.

  10. Alright syders only just noticed this post, you could of borrowed mine you don't live a million miles from me. Let me know if you need it. ;)

  11. Thanks Chris. I've got one coming in the post.
At the rate I'm currently going I probably won't get round to using it till the end of the summer.
