Powder coating wheels

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by volkswombat, Jan 16, 2016.

  1. If you get wheels powder coated , the seat where the nut would sit isn't supposed to be coated I believe?

So does the powder coater know not to do that bit (how on earth do they leave that bit??) Or do you have to tell them? Or grind it off yourself later, and ruin your new wheels!?

  2. They just coat it and leave you to sort it out.

  3. Stupid question, but haven't the original steel wheels got a coating on them anyway?

Originals are painted and the paints thin so it's not a problem, powdercoat is very thick can be 1mm or more thick.

When you drop them to the powder coaters you can ask them to mask the holes, otherwise file the bolt hole seats, there's a powder coaters near you who's good and sensible prices, I can get the address etc if you want
