Hi, I've been finding of late that I keep popping out of first gear - not always, but more often than I'd like it to. There's also a click when I put it into gear. All the other gears seem ok - or at least as ok as they ever have! I'm hoping you'll tell me that there are lots of things it could be which don't involve the gearbox being knackered and a new one being required... Any ideas please? Thanks
Ps it doesn't pop out of gear whilst driving, once we are moving it stays where it should - just when setting off. Which can be a bit annoying at roundabouts and on hills!
Front gearbox mount is first inspection point , if that's ok - gearbox is on the way out consolation is it will last for ages before it gives up the goose , have a butchers at the gearbox oil - if it has loads of filings in it your on the way to a new box .
Go look at the front gb mount first thing in the morning , bet its that that's causing the problem , new mount and away you go , hopefully
The bus was in the garage today anyway for a couple of bits and bibs doing so have asked them to take a look. Apparently if there's nothing obvs wrong with the mount it's an engine out job to check the gearbox? Fingers crossed it's something and nothing.
