pop top to sunroof?

  1. ello again all,
im going to be buying a '72 devon moonraker soon,
but i dont really want a poptop..
i know what your thinking.... just buy a tintop, simple!
but... i was wondering how difficult it would be just to put a fabric sliding sunroof in the hole??
and if anyone would be interested in buying the poptop/assembly/fabric off me afterwards?

anyone got any ideas/opinions on this?
any input would be nice :)
    thanks

Probably not too difficult to fit a vinyl sunroof - but you may have to get one specially made if the roof hole is already too big for their off the shelf size.

You'll never use the sunroof, as they are a hassle to unpop - and fasten back up, people will also tell they leak, in my experience they dont though!

The moonraker is huge upstairs :)

  3. thanks man, it doesnt sound hard in theory, but ive been around VWs long enough to know that that is irrelevant! ;)

yeah, people keep telling me they leak.. but i know if they are installed/maintained properly they would be fine, just like anything else.

i wouldnt know about that, i havent seen one with the poptop up before, thats something i have to look forward too...

Agreed. My first bus had a Paris sunroof fitted. Think I only opened it a few times. Never leaked though

On here we often see pics of devon roofs removed to find rusty holes instead of a roof. Have a good look. :)
