Looking for a new set of plug leads. Current ones aren't the best (one fell apart when removing it today).

    Any recommendations ?

This does come up from time to time for the type 4. @Zed what's the issue with the T3 air-cooled ones, I can't remember.
@Marty SmartyCat , for the best quality you may be as well to research individual components to make up a custom set.

In saying that I may be talking a load of ***** and there may be decent Bosch sets available again:thumbsup:

Thought so, I had Bosch on the Westy, it's a damn shame we can't get them now unless anyone knows different?

The distributor and plugs are in the same place and the coil on a T2 couldn't be much nearer to the distributor so I'd guess they'd be fine but the king lead might be a bit longer than necessary, but you know what, I would bet anyone selling Type-4 lead sets just makes them all the same.

Edit, yes IIRC the coil is on the side of the engine bay.

I want Bosch and you've reminded me why. I don't understand what the problem is in supplying a decent set of leads. Someone did once post a link to the pukka caps though I've lost it. i.e. probably better to make your own set.

Get ya. It's odd isn't it.
I do know the Brickie ones are quality. Had a tour round his warehouse just after Xmas and it's an impressive set up. They invest in decent kit to make good stuff out of well researched componentry.
Plug leads and hydraulic hoses are a case in point. You'd have thought one of the T2 specific retailers would have done something similar by now...then again maybe not:rolleyes:

Had a mooch around eBay and ordered a set of these.

He's got a solid reputation on eBay so worth a punt. Will let you know how I get on.

Well there you go @Zed Steve ^^ generic leads for T2 and T3. I'll get the Brickwerks ones next time I need a set as I know how they're made. But so long as they spark I guess.....

I'm pretty sure that mine are original. Can't remember ever changing them. I did replace the dizzy with a 123. Starting no problem so fingers crossed it'll stay that way.

Not right for T1, look at the plug caps, 2 ruddy great long ones! and the short ones are more like medium length.
