Great spot.....BUT if you take population to visits ratio, Wales should only have 1 and a bit visits, NI can share the other bit and give Scotland it's missing 1 to get it's fair 2, and England is about spot on... Sod the meek, let the pendants inherit
I readily agree that the sprawling metropolis that is Shrivenam should get the same as an entire country.
Looking at many of the places, is the itinerary loosely based on former air bases?……. Plus a few big events.
Nah, it's based on the Shires in The Hobbit and LOTR. Obvious where they think Mordor is - what say you @Moons
Could be worse ! Birmingham council spent a fortune on the Commonwealth games and bankrupt themselves.
Ours spent 3 million on a floating bridge. Then another 2 million trying to fix it and another boat to help it on high tides ha ha now it's getting replaced. You couldn't make it up. Think we have the 5th highest council tax. Wonder why lol
Boscombe spend a huge amount on an artificial surfing reef . No waves and the Australian company who built it goes bust ! Mind you the Boris garden bridge cost millions in planning but never materialised.
Is that where the chain ferry has always been? It looks a bit OTT for the job! I remember this one. This one was cool!
They paid the refuse collectors bonuses for turning up for work*, whilst teaching assistants, cooks and carers got paid less. *don't know if this happended elsewhere too. I'm not sure any local councils make money from hosting big events.
Yep. Always been there. It is too big. Strong tidal river makes it useless. The old one is still mored up in Gosport.
Looks like it's halfway across before it sets off! I did 3 x week long dinghy sailing courses in the mid 70's at the National Sailing Centre as it was then IIRC. I'm pretty sure we had to cross the chain ferry in our dinghies to get out into the Solent. School organised it or rather a married couple of sailing mad teachers did. They were great for organising that and did the courses with us (to keep an eye on us) but super laid back about anything we got up to in the evenings. Strong tides - one of the other learners (we were on an advanced course) got caught out and rammed a massive buoy head on stoving in the front foot of the boat. They gave him another boat and told him not to do it again.
Aah. The famous reef that did nothing but introduce a lethal undertow... I quite liked Boris's Garden Bridge . Pity it never got built. They could've used the money they spent on that useless cable car that goes from nowhere to nowhere by the Excel centre.
plus the cable car stops before the gig you were at in the O2 ends so you now struggle getting back to your hotel
