Picking this 79 Late Bay upon Tuesday : )

  1. Hi all,

My name is Mike , I got rid of my 62 beetle last year and missed the air-cooled sound. Ive just bought this 1979 late bay last week , I pick it up on Tuesday with trailer. Its not MOTd and has no windows in at the mo and the dormobile roof has ben refurbished but not fitted . Im hoping its a dry day tuesday : ), It also comes with the old interior but I'm going to put a new bespoke interior in I think. Any way I will be asking lots of questions esp regarding the dormobile bellows that needs fitting , if anyone has got any advice nowhere to get it fitted preferably in the East Yorkshire area..

  16. Hi ,

Been on holiday for 2 weeks so not had chance to post , Just a little update , roof is now on although it needs a new canvas ( ones not fitted at mo ) windows are in and it has a full mot , Basically I've got the interior to sort from scratch now . Im not bothered about a full camping interior just a full width rock n roll bed with possibly a unit to the rear of the front seats with a pop up flat screen tv in. It has porsche tombstones in that also need recovering. I just need to find an upholsterer local and one that is cheap , the only quote I've got so far is £2000 .
    Regards Mike

  19. £2k for two front seats

I hope you meant all the upholstery and door cards plus a bit. Sounds expensive to me.
